A Kitchen Remodel in Country Grove Estates

We recently completed a project for our clients Chris and Carol, a professional couple living in the Country Grove Estates subdivision. They came to us for a kitchen remodel and an addition off the back of the home. Built in 1993, the couple has had several updates over the years. The home’s original kitchen was dated and showed it was built in 1993. The main concern was congestion. The space was crowded if more than one person was working in the kitchen.

Open Space, Storage, and Ease of Use

Chris and Carol had a few specific goals for their kitchen remodel. They wanted their new kitchen organized with plenty of storage space. Many of their overflow items were stored in the basement, and they wanted everything easily accessible in the kitchen space. The entry from the garage is in the kitchen area. There was a small coat closet there that was not useful. They asked us to come up with a storage solution that was functional but didn’t detract from the overall design. Our solution was to create a tall cabinet with large doors. When you open the cabinet, there’s space for jacket and shoe storage, and shelving bins for seasonal items. Next to the custom Amish cabinet is a corner pantry finished with quartz countertops and a tile backsplash. The pantry is an extension to the kitchen and provides storage for small appliances.

A Well-Designed Functional Workspace

The wall adjacent to the pantry houses the counter-depth refrigerator encased in a tall cabinet. The refrigerator's location was carefully planned to work with the pantry's size and location. The pantry walls were specifically built to allow the refrigerator doors to swing fully open. To the right of the refrigerator, an open space with base cabinets has tall pullouts for storage. With glass cabinetry above and lighting inside, it creates ambiance and is also functional for the ovens on the right-hand side. The double oven was something that Chris and Carol really wanted. The drawer below the ovens and the cabinet above are perfect for storing Carol’s baking dishes and trays!

A Large Island and a Reimagined Staircase

The center of the kitchen features a large island with an electric cooktop and a hidden downdraft vent. The island range gives the homeowners plenty of prep space in the designated cooking area. Working with our clients, each cabinet and drawer was carefully planned out based on Chris and Carol’s needs. The accessories put everything they need in one area. To make the kitchen space feel more open, we reworked the staircase. Originally closed off by a bulky knee wall, our design removed it and installed new newel posts and balusters for an updated, open, and elegant look. The result? A transitional and elegant kitchen!

This Kitchen Remodel Was An Excellent Update

This kitchen remodel transformed a crowded 1993 layout into an open, organized space designed for the way Chris and Carol live today. Custom storage, a dedicated pantry, double ovens, and a spacious island make everyday cooking, baking, and entertaining more convenient. Reworking the staircase improved sightlines and gave the kitchen a brighter, more connected feel. The finished design balances practical function with a timeless transitional style that will serve the homeowners for years to come.
