Dave Duewel, Senior Designer, sat down with us to share a little about who he is and what he enjoys. 

What are some of your passions? My passion in life is to help others the best I can. No matter what the economy is like, I make every effort to donate to my local food pantry. Although it may be easier to throw items away, I feel it is more important to donate them to various organizations as well.

Where have you lived? I was born and raised in the western suburbs of Milwaukee. My career has taken me to various cities throughout Wisconsin including Sheboygan, Saukville, Oak Creek, Cedarburg, West Allis, Franklin, Wisconsin Dells and Sun Prairie. I currently live in a 55+ condominium in Cambridge.

Please share about your family: I am very proud of my 3 adult adopted sons. It was my mission to adopt locally and give them the second chance they deserved. As an added bonus, in February of 2024 my first grandson, Alex Joseph was born.

What are you proud of? I am very proud of the fact that all of the pets I have had as an adult, have come from a local shelter. The latest additions to our family are Iggy, a Mississippi transplant and Beau, from Louisiana. I thought raising 3 boys was tough but these two pups really keep me busy.

Do you have a favorite quote from a famous person? “The details are not just details. They make the design.” - Charles Eames

And you must have a personal saying too, right? “If I catch you….” has been used many times with not only my boys but also with our puppies. Don’t worry, I have yet to catch any of them!

What do you prefer: Live TV, Netflix, or Youtube? HGTV, FreeVee and Prime

So do you have a favorite TV show? I’m a fan of Schitt’s Creek.

Do you like to travel? Where have you been? I firmly believe that traveling should be relaxing so flying is not an option! I love road trips whether by car or RV. On our recent trip, we spent Christmas on Tybee Island in Savannah, Georgia.

Where is your dream vacation? I do not have a specific destination in mind. At some point I plan to buy an RV and see where that takes me.

What type of music do you listen to? I can listen to almost anything, except for heavy metal.

Tell us about your values, church, or faith! Fortunately I was raised by parents who taught me good values and provided me a good base for my faith. I do not feel an organized religion is necessary for me to have faith and treat others well.

What awards and achievements are you most proud of? Several of the projects I have worked on here at Degnan have won COTY awards including the company's first Regional COTY award.
