Dave Duewel, Senior Designer, sat down with us to share a little about who he is and what he enjoys. 

What are some of your hobbies? I like camping, in a trailer of course, with air conditioning! At home, I have a vegetable garden. I also enjoy hunting for architectural treasures at antique malls, flea markets, anywhere!

Tell us about some of your passions: Cooking, and my 150lb Lab named Kolt. Cooking is my therapy and puts me in a calm place. The thing is, I cannot watch any cooking competition shows because they make me a nervous wreck!

Where did you grow up? The west suburbs of Milwaukee.

Did you go to college? Yes, I have degrees in Architecture and Business Administration.

Please share about your family: I’m the father of three adopted boys, and now I’m a grandpa too!

What are you proud of? Managing to get my sons to graduate from High School. Many of you understand adoption can be tough!

Do you have a favorite movie? I like somewhat crazy comedies but nothing over the top. One favorite is Spy, starring Melissa McCarthy.

What about TV shows? Almost any home remodeling show! Yes, I live for design!

Do you like to travel? Where have you been? Traveling by plane, no way! Traveling by car, Yes. The farthest west I have been is Nevada, the farthest south is Tennessee, the farthest east, Pennsylvania and the farthest north is Michigan. I tend to stay close to home because of family.

Where is your dream vacation? My dream vacation will be retirement. I plan to sell everything and buy a large RV and hit the road!

What type of music do you listen to? I really only listen to music in the car. Currently, that would be SiriusXM anything from the ’70s to current. It just depends on my mood. 

What did you used to listen to? I used to love country music but I guess I got tired of it.

Do you play any musical instruments? No, although I can turn a blade of grass into a whistle!

What about sports? Golf, why? I love to watch it on TV because I find the scenery to be relaxing. I also watch the Packers (but only if they are winning.)

Want to share a funny story? I laugh at myself because I am somewhat technically challenged. I like electronics but really have no clue on how to set anything up. I have a basic smartphone and that is okay with me. Both of my vehicles have far more gadgets than I know what to do with. As long as I can push-start and get it into drive, I figure I am doing great.
