Kitchen Remodel with Laundry in Lodi, Wisconsin

Gail was a client over 15 years ago when we worked with her to update her primary bathroom. Over the years, we came back to help with small projects. When it was time to renovate her kitchen and laundry room, she contacted us and once again trusted us with her kitchen remodeling project.

From A Simple Kitchen Refresh To A Full Kitchen Remodel

Gail’s initial vision for the kitchen was for a simple refresh. She wanted to keep the existing cabinet boxes (which were still in good condition), paint them, update the style, and replace the door and drawer faces. To complete the update, she wanted quartz countertops on the perimeter, butcher block on the island, a new tile backsplash, and taller crown molding to modernize the kitchen.

Same Kitchen Floorplan, Completely New Look

Gail was happy with the way her existing kitchen functioned, so we kept the layout largely the same and focused on updating the kitchen’s style. The new kitchen cabinets are painted Sherwin-Williams Still Water, playing off her home’s location with the large lakefront view from the kitchen; the color brought the outside right into the space! To complement the cabinet color and existing pine ceiling, we accented the space with stained alder crown molding. Gail chose quartz countertops on the perimeter but upped the aesthetics with a functional butcher block island top to tie in with the existing wood elements in her home.

The Big Changes Just Steps Away

The biggest change in the kitchen wasn’t the kitchen; it was a few steps away in the mudroom and laundry room area. Gail wanted a complete rethink and redesign of the area. Her list included a bench and locker area, plus a dedicated laundry room. The solution? We removed the existing sink cabinet next to the garage entry door. That gave us the space for the bench and locker. We recessed the washer and dryer into an existing, unused box window bay. This left plenty of space in front of the machines to set baskets and switch laundry loads. Our design improved flow and freed up the entry to the kitchen.

The Result Of This Kitchen Remodeling Project

The result of our kitchen remodel is the new kitchen Gail wanted. With brand-new cabinetry and an updated aesthetic ready for the future, our design maintained and enhanced the existing functionality of the kitchen that worked so well for her.
