Before and After Images of A DeForest WI Bathroom Remodel

A Primary Bathroom Remodel for a DeForest Couple

Meet Doug and Carol. Our longtime clients are a retired couple living in DeForest, Wisconsin, who recently contacted us for a bathroom remodel.

We originally built their home in 2003, and when they purchased it from the former owner in 2018, we added a four-season room addition. So when it came time to remodel their primary bathroom, they knew we were a good fit and gave us a call.

They had a clear idea of exactly what they wanted. The new design would remove the large, jetted tub and existing cramped shower, create more storage, and improve the overall functionality of the space. Just as important was updating the aesthetics and boosting the home’s resale value.

Doug and Carol plan on staying in their home for as long as possible. See the before-and-after pictures and learn how our design solutions provided them with a space that meets the couple’s current and future needs.

An Original Dated Bathroom

The home’s primary bathroom had never been updated and was original from when the home was built. It was dated and not functional for Doug and Carol’s day-to-day needs. Along the back wall was a large, built-in jetted tub, which was a focal point. This was something the couple didn’t use, so they wanted it removed.

Our solution was to remove the tub, and in its place, we designed a large shower. Doug and Carol plan to stay in their home as they age, so to meet their goals, we installed a low curb shower pan. The new shower features two large niches perfect for holding large shampoo bottles and other items, a fold-down bench, and a large glass door that showcases the entire shower, creating a beautiful visual focal point. Doug and Carol selected large-format Onyx for the shower surround. It’s a beautiful blue color and sets the tone for the entire space.

Adding An Innovative Storage Solution

In the original bathroom layout, a small, cramped shower sat behind the vanity. Because we removed the jetted tub and installed a new shower, this feature was no longer needed. One of the homeowner’s original goals was to add storage. We needed to design a smart solution to hold the linens that were previously kept in the primary closet.

By removing the shower, we had plenty of space to install a spacious linen cabinet in its place. The new custom alder cabinetry features provincial stain and Amerock Highland Ridge hardware in a satin nickel finish. The new cabinet features drawers below and upper doors. With roll-out drawers and adjustable shelving inside, it maximizes storage and makes everyday use effortless.

A Functional Double Vanity

Moving to the vanity wall, we chose a new wall-to-wall double vanity to create another visual focal point in our design. The stained alder vanity complements the new linen storage and features flat-front doors, which give the space a sleek, modern look, plus it’s easy to clean.

The new vanity was installed in the same position as in the original layout. However, we made better, more efficient use of the vanity space. In the center of the vanity are two banks of drawers. This provides plenty of space for Doug and Carol to store their personal toiletries.

The warm stained alder cabinetry features matching Amerock cabinet hardware in satin nickel and is topped with a Linnstone countertop in Byron White. Focusing on the center of the vanity, we installed a cabinet on top of the Linnstone Countertop. This is not only a striking design feature, but the cabinet functions as a concealed medicine cabinet, adding both style and practicality to the space.

A Primary Bathroom Remodel For Today and the Future

Doug and Carol had some very solid ideas for what they wanted in their primary bathroom. Our bathroom remodel and design met all their goals. Our design focused on both functionality and aesthetics. With the vibrant blue onyx in the shower, the smart linen storage solution, and a hidden medicine cabinet, this bathroom remodel offers several exciting focal points, perfectly matches the couple’s style, and meets their need for functionality.

Because Doug and Carol plan on staying in their home as long as possible, we included features that will keep them safe and comfortable in their home. The shower includes a fold-down seat and a hand-held shower fixture. The low threshold makes entering and exiting the shower safely a priority. The bottom line… Doug and Carol now have a beautiful blue bathroom that meets all their functional and aesthetic needs now and into the future.
