Recognized as a National Association of the Remodeling Industry (NARI), Contractor of the Year (CotY) award-winner.

Our client Suzanne, a University professional, chose Degnan Design-Build-Remodel because of our experience renovating high-rise condominiums. Following a water leak that resulted in an insurance settlement, our client decided to expand the project beyond the repair and update her kitchen and two bathrooms. She requested a new design with personal touches that made the space feel like her own. Specifically, she was looking to replace the dated whirlpool tub with a walk-in shower and replace the dark granite kitchen countertops with a lighter color Cambria quartz.

This is a NARI Madison CotY Award winning remodeling project.

A Contemporary Kitchen Design

During the design process, it was decided that while the maple cabinetry had grown tired, it was still in good shape. The granite countertop, on the other hand, had paint spills which had seeped into the pores, the surface was chipped in several areas, and the coloring was not what our client preferred. We determined that to help provide the budget for bathroom remodeling, the cabinets would be painted instead of removed and it would be accessorized and the countertops would need to be replaced. The kitchen was updated by painting cabinets, adding new hardware and installing new Cambria quartz tops, along with functional upgrades to access corner cabinets.

I really enjoyed working with Degnan and am extremely happy with the completed project. I interviewed several contractors and chose Degnan because I felt comfortable that Abe and his team would not only provide quality work, but would listen and work with me as a partner in the project. The team’s communication skills exceeded my expectations. I had never remodeled before, but have built several homes, so I know the process can be a bit stressful. Dave and PJ kept me well informed, answered all my questions, gave honest advice, and were a real pleasure to work with. They’re not only professional, they’re all really nice people. My condo turned out beautifully! I would work with Degnan again and recommend them without reservation.

Condominium Master Bathroom and Powder Room

The two bathrooms had maple cabinets, which blended in with the beige floor and the beige shower tile. A jetted whirlpool tub was used only for showering and was inconvenient to step in and out of. Suzanne desired a shower, prepared for potential aging-in-place needs.

A half wall at the end of the vanity was removed so that much-needed space could be dedicated to the vanity cabinet and countertop. New flooring, wall tile, and a heavy glass shower enclosure turned it into something new and refreshing. Serving as the guest bathroom and powder room for the home, the vanity cabinet was eliminated and replaced with a pedestal sink. This creates a more spacious feeling for the small bathroom while storage is accomplished thanks to a toilet topper cabinet and storage niche.

By carefully re-using the kitchen cabinetry, shower pan, and living area wood floor we were able to help our client get more for her money. We are proud to have been able to reduce waste and create a more “green” remodeling project, saving our client’s money!
