Middleton, Wisconsin Home Remodel Brings the 2000s Up To Date

Our clients, Courtney and Dan, are busy working parents living in Middleton, WI. They were ready to give their 2004 home a much-needed update. Their primary goals for the home remodel were to update the kitchen, primary bathroom, mudroom, laundry room, staircase, and 3-season room. They were clear in their vision; they wanted us to create spaces that were functional, beautiful, and built to last.

A Modern, Bright Kitchen

The kitchen was the heart of their home and the home remodel. Courtney and Dan wanted a brighter, more inviting space featuring better lighting, a double oven, a step-in pantry, a dedicated coffee bar, and an extended countertop space under a large window. The existing kitchen had black granite countertops, dark cherry cabinets, and maple floors. It felt heavy and a little dated. We removed all the original finishes. We installed light oak LVP flooring, which immediately opened the space. Next, we replaced the cabinetry with custom Amish-built cabinetry and Silestone countertops around the perimeter, and Cambria for the island. The angled wall near the informal dining area allowed us to create a coffee bar with a small bar sink and space for coffee pots.

Creating a Spa-Like Primary Bathroom

Moving through the back hallway, we come to the primary suite. Courtney and Dan wanted us to give them a spa-like retreat in their master suite. The couple envisioned a brighter, more functional space with more countertop space, streamlined storage, and a modern look. We began by removing the existing fixtures and reimagining the layout, while keeping the shower in its place. We gave the shower a complete makeover, including new tile, fixtures, and built-in shelving. To create a better entry solution, we reduced the size of the doorway, centered it on the wall, and installed a single pocket door. We replaced the original oversized jacuzzi tub with a sleek soaking tub with a floor-mounted filler. While the bathroom’s footprint largely remained the same, the new finishes, fixtures, and cabinetry completely transformed the space.

Four-Season Upgrade, New Mudroom, and Laundry Upgrade

At the far end of the kitchen sat the former three-season room. Dan and Courtney imagined a space that would coordinate with the rest of their remodel and could be used year-round. We began by removing the old flooring and putting in new insulation and flooring. Window upgrades followed, along with the addition of a multi-glide door and a gas fireplace. The journey through the house brings us to the mudroom, now tailored for function and designed to meet the family’s everyday needs. Custom cubbies give every family member their own space. Bench seating, paired with storage space below for shoes and boots, maximizes convenience. For a cohesive look, we continued the same cabinetry color from the kitchen into the mudroom. The laundry room also received an upgrade; organizational shelving, cabinetry, and storage now accommodate multiple laundry baskets. New cabinetry and fixtures offer improved functionality and enhanced visual appeal.

In the end, Courtney and Dan now have beautifully remodeled spaces that meet their goals and will continue to serve the family for many years to come.

Creating a kitchen with better workspace flow is a pleasure. Tiny nonfunctional countertop and cabinet spaces have been transformed into spacious and useful areas for our clients. The old porch, either too cold or too hot, has become a relaxing space warmed by the fireplace and insulated from the heat of summer. A lovely transformation!
