Courtney and Dan are a busy working couple living in a home built in 2004 in Middleton, WI. They called us seeking a much-needed update to their home. Their project encompassed the first-floor living areas, including the kitchen, primary bathroom, mudroom, laundry, and staircase. One of their primary goals for this remodel was to create a spa-like retreat in the primary bathroom.

Transforming The Primary Bathroom Design

Moving through the back hallway to the couple’s primary suite, we updated the flooring throughout the space, with a special focus on transforming the primary bathroom. The original layout featured a large corner jacuzzi tub, flanked by separate his-and-hers vanities, a large linen closet, and frosted glass French doors. Courtney and Dan envisioned a brighter, more functional space with increased countertop area, streamlined storage, and a modern look. To achieve this, we removed the existing features and reimagined the layout.

A New Shower, Custom Storage, and A Soaking Tub

While we made select changes to the layout, our primary bathroom design kept the shower in its original place and gave it a complete makeover with new tile, fixtures, a built-in shower seat, and shelving. For improved storage, we replaced the bulky linen closet with custom cabinetry, offering tailored storage solutions. Swapping out the oversized tub for a modern soaking tub with a floor-mounted filler opened the corner and created a spa-like focal point.

A New Entry for an Elegant Bathroom

To create a more efficient entryway to the bathroom, we reduced the door size, centered it on the wall, and installed a single pocket door, echoing the cohesive approach throughout the remodel. The new vanity features his-and-hers sinks, and the countertop is the same Silestone Ethereal Glow used in the kitchen, tying the design together. Tall storage cabinets on either side of the sinks provide plenty of space for both Dan and Courtney’s items. Although the bathroom footprint stayed largely the same, the new finishes, fixtures, and cabinetry completely transformed the space, resulting in an elegant and highly functional spa-like retreat.

Small floorplan changes helped create a huge change in this bathroom. By moving both vanities to the same side of the room with one long countertop, the end of the room now becomes a focal point with the floor to ceiling decorative tile and the generous linen cabinet space. All this and more creates a totally new feel for the same space. Transformation goals achieved.
