Multi-Room Home Remodel

Our clients, a family with teenage children, own a suburban home on a large beautiful lot in the Terrace Park neighborhood of Windsor, WI. They tasked us with a home remodel that included updating the aesthetic of the kitchen, creating a functional design for the bathroom, and creating a lower-level family room with a new floor plan. The existing style of the home was formal, heavy, and outdated. The kitchen cabinetry had builder grade, partial overlay doors, and inexpensive hardware. The master bathroom contained an unused jetted tub and an awkward, low-quality, acrylic shower recessed within an alcove with tile above it. In addition, the lower level of the home contained offices with a layout designed for a business.

A Contemporary Kitchen Design

To bring this home up to current design standards and meet our clients' tastes, we solved the appearance problems throughout the house by removing outdated finishes. The beige tile that was used in the kitchen and bar area was replaced by Daltile Rittenhouse Square 3” X 6” subway tile in glazed white, and the range backsplash is a suede grey color. While some of the cabinetry was reused in the lower level of the home, it was transformed by being painted. The kitchen cabinetry is all-new, with all the current functions such as full overlay doors, roll-out trays, and slow-close hardware. The main kitchen area cabinets are from Dura Supreme. They are maple and have the Hudson door style. The perimeter cabinets are finished in the color linen, and the island cabinets are in zinc. The kitchen beverage center also has Dura Supreme cabinets with Hudson flat panel doors, also painted in zinc. The floating kitchen shelves are a darker wood tone. These reclaimed wood shelves act as a focal point and provide contrast against the light-colored backsplash while complimenting the Coretec Plus HD, Vineyard Barrel flooring in driftwood. Master Bathroom Suite Remodel

The master bathroom floor plan was redesigned to create an expansive walk-in shower and larger walk-in closet. A pocket door was added which allows the homeowners to close off the bathroom. This new door reduces noise and eliminates late-night disruptions. The remodel of this master bathroom suite provided the homeowners with a bright, open, and spacious bath that showcases the beautiful walk-in shower and freestanding soaking tub. In collaboration with our clients, the Degnan design team guided them towards choosing an elegant chrome bathroom hardware called Park Avenue from Pfister and a remarkable soaking tub by Mirabelle. A Finished Basement Family Room

In the lower level of the home, the former home office space was transformed into two guest bedrooms for family visits. Two existing smaller conference rooms were combined into an expansive playroom, and the bar was updated to provide additional storage by using base cabinets and wine storage racks below the peninsula. The result of this home transformation is nothing short of spectacular. The remodeled home now has a feeling of relaxed elegance, with finishes and function suited for decades into the future.
