Traditional Ranch Home Exterior Remodel

Our clients requested a change to the design of the front of their home through the addition of a new front porch that was large enough for seating. They decided upon a configuration that included a shed roof, a new porch railing system and stone veneer and wood columns. Additional texture and colors were added by replacing the existing garage and front door with new wood-look doors. The wood-look was carried over to the stained wood columns and dark rails of the railing. To create continuity, the same stone used on the base of the columns continues onto the garage as well as on the exterior kneewall of the rear 3-Season room at the fear of the home.

They also asked to have a 3-season porch, a deck, and a patio with a fire pit designed and built at the rear of the home. Their goal was to more easily enjoy the outdoors and create a connection from the inside of the house to their backyard. We fulfilled their request by building a deck with a new patio door that provides easy access from the main level to the outdoors.

Year-Round Outdoor Living

The deck is just off of the main living space has a stairway down to the patio and backyard. The 3-season porch is at ground level looking out upon the patio and fire pit. Placing the deck above the 3-season porch maximized the use of the available space. The transformation of the back of the home and the addition of a fire pit provides multiple locations where they can enjoy the outdoors throughout the year. See additional images of the front porch.

Our clients, Todd and Laura, recently hosted a party, and the house looks so different that upon arrival a child said, “This isn’t the right house!” The clients reflected, “The house looks like it was always meant to be this way.” The craftsmanship and care we took incorporating the addition into the existing home created a perfect integration of new and old.
