We recently completed a project for our clients, Culley and Marianne, that included an open-concept kitchen remodel. Culley and Marianne are working parents living in Madison’s Vilas neighborhood. They came to us looking to expand their home with an addition over the garage and seeking a way to open their kitchen to the rest of the living area, improving its functionality.

We Started With A Cramped and Dated Kitchen

The original kitchen felt closed off from the living and dining areas. It featured an awkward island, multiple doors on nearly every wall, and a cramped cooking zone. The layout lacked any sense of flow and didn’t reflect the homeowner’s design style.

Opening the Space Created Design Opportunities

To improve the connection and flow between the kitchen, dining, and living spaces, we removed the wall dividing the kitchen and dining room. This opened the floor plan, added storage opportunities, and greatly improved functionality. We also removed a window on the opposite wall to create an opening that seamlessly leads into the family’s new mudroom addition.

A Perfect Balance of Style and Functionality

Our new open-concept kitchen remodel is a perfect balance of style and functionality! Our kitchen design features a spacious island with seating for casual dining. The Amish custom-built cabinetry offers plenty of storage and is topped with durable, beautiful Linnstone countertops and a fresh palette of high-end finishes. The new design delivers beauty and practicality that perfectly fulfill Culley and Marianne’s goals, giving their home a completely renewed sense of warmth, flow, and functionality.

We absolutely love the way everything is turning out (interior and exterior) and we get lots of compliments, especially regarding how seamlessly the addition transitions into the existing roofline!
