Our clients Kirsten and Jason moved to the Golf Green neighborhood in 2022. They bought their home online sight unseen. Built-in the 60s, it was renovated in the early 80s. They came to us looking for a complete whole house remodel. The goal was to improve the overall flow. The home was closed off, dark, and lacked mid-century modern charm. The couple wanted us to create a design that would fit their needs now and could become their forever home when their girls were grown. Both the interior and exterior needed to be remodeled to give them the high-design, mid-century home remodeling they sought.

Opening Up The Flow of the Floor Plan

Upon entering the space, there was a small hallway with a closet. The entryway was small, dark, and not very functional. We opened up this space and created a functional and decorative landing space with storage cubbies and space for coats, boots, and backpacks. To the right of the entry was a large open combination living dining room. The kitchen was closed off by two walls. We removed the interior kitchen walls as part of this mid-century modern home remodeling project. This created space for a large island with plenty of seating. We upped the design with clear stained solid cherry custom cabinetry, a magnificent custom-designed range hood enclosure, and quartz countertops. Careful attention to clean lines and repeated design elements throughout the spaces gives this home an unmistakable mid-century vibe. View more images of this kitchen.

The Exterior Renovation

The existing exterior, with its creamy yellow siding and forest green shutters, was a more traditional ranch and didn't represent a modern mid-century home. Our clients requested a complete remodel, including a new design concept for the exterior, replacement windows, doors, siding, and roof. With its new modern entrance, garage doors, cedar screen, and pergola, this home has a hip, mid-century modern look.

A Relaxing Master Oasis

The back area of the home contained two bedrooms and a main bathroom in the hallway in addition to the master suite. With a new private entrance, the master bedroom is a stunning addition to this home. The new five-panel pocket door adds beauty and functionality without interfering with the hallway. The existing closets offered the perfect space for two vanities designed to repeat the mid-century aesthetic. Just outside the master bedroom, we added a drop zone complete with a quartz countertop for keys and cell phones. See more images of the bathrooms in this home.

A Mid-Century Design with Features for the Future

In the back of the main living area, we included a bright and cheerful space for a home office. A remodeled guest bathroom in the basement offers a spa-like retreat complete with a large jacuzzi tub and tiled shower. It is the perfect place to pamper guests or escape after a long day. Other features include a playroom for the girls with plenty of space for toys and the potential to expand into a future teen hangout. Finally, a bonus space affectionately known as the “Zen Room”, is the perfect space to relax, practice yoga, or contemplate the day. All these personalized touches take this home from a dark, outdated ranch to a true mid-century modern masterpiece that our clients will cherish for many years!
